Prepare to be captivated by the ghostly tales of spirits who stubbornly refuse to fade into oblivion. This October, the front parlor of Heritage Hall will be transformed with traditional Victorian mourning décor for a seasonal touch that blends history with mystery. The Morgan County Historical Society is planning special tours that highlight the home’s past while sharing local ghost stories and legends.
Built in 1811, Heritage Hall is one of Madison’s most iconic homes, known for both its grandeur and its peculiar tales. From its Victorian mourning wreath made of human hair to whispered accounts of lingering spirits, these October tours invite visitors to step into the past with a delightfully eerie twist.
Spin for Kids Getaway Weekend

Want an excuse to get out in nature while supporting a good cause? Camp Twin Lakes is hosting its annual Spin for Kids fundraiser that culminates in a bike ride that takes cyclists through the scenic backroads of beautiful Morgan County on Sunday, October 5. All funds raised by Spin For Kids riders help Camp Twin Lakes provide life-changing experiences for campers in need. During the past 18 years of hosting this event, Spin For Kids has collectively raised over $5 million and sent more than 7,200 kids to Camp.
Spin For Kids offers multiple routes for riders of all skill levels. Participants can choose from six scenic road routes: 5, 15, 27, 47, 62 or 100 miles. After the ride, join family and friends at Camp Twin Lakes for a celebration of food, live music, beer and a chance to explore camp. Find out more about the event and register here.
Madison Lions Club Fair

Nothing says fall like the fair! For more than 60 years, the Madison Lions Club has hosted its annual Fall Fair, where admission supports a great local cause while families enjoy food, rides and festive activities at the Madison Lions Club Fairgrounds.
This year’s fair runs Tuesday through Thursday from 6–10 p.m., Friday from 6–11 p.m. and Saturday from 1–11 p.m., with a 4-H Baking Contest and Cattle Show kicking off the week on Tuesday. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for kids ages 4–12 and free for children 3 and under. Ride armbands are $20 on Wednesday and $25 on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The fair takes place at the Madison Lions Club Fairgrounds, 1311 Fairgrounds Road in Madison.
Annual Madison Chili Cook-Off and Fall Festival

Whether you’re a chili lover or want to celebrate the beginning of fall, the Chili Cook-Off & Fall Festival is for you. Listen to live music, sample chili, shop for fresh produce and local crafts, and enjoy a variety of food and drink from fabulous vendors. The festival begins at 10 a.m. at Madison Town Park. Come dressed to impress for the costume contest for all ages, with kids taking home candy, prizes and a chance to win a $100 cash prize for best costume. Haunted Village at Hard Labor Creek State Park

Grab your friends and family and head to Hard Labor Creek State Park for a family-friendly Haunted Village. Take a spooky tour with your group through eight scary scenes at Camp Daniel Morgan, where the spooky favorite Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives was filmed. PG-13 tours run from 6:30-9:30 p.m. For a slightly less spooky experience, head to the PG tour from 1:30-4:30 p.m. for ages six and up. Make sure to book here in advance.
